Are you sitting down??

Yep....it's me updating my poor neglected blog. I have been C-R-A-Z-Y busy with my new business. YOU can check it out here: ARTFul Salvage. We are been having a great time, building glass and doing shows.

I have managed to join a few swaps and actually played with paper today. :) I KNOW...who knew!! LOL

Anywho.....I was to make 2 corner bookmarks, 2 ATC's and 1 card/envie. The themes were to be from a list we were given that had all of the holidays (big ones and unheard of holidays) for the Month of May. I chose "May 7th - the 1st Stamp Collection was Started on this day" for both my bookmarks and my ATC's.

The corner Bookmarks are uber easy. You simply cut the corner off of an envie and decorate it to you heart's content. Here are the directions. I used some old postage stamps and some new rubber stamps and created these bookmarks.

Here is the envie after I cut off the corner.

The ATC's are pretty self explanatory, using the leftovers from my stamp paper envies and corner bookmarks.

I also had a card/envie to make. I used my DCWV Green Stack and made this cutie patootie little OWL card. I just did some simple embellishments using my glaze and glitter pens.

Postcard ART for the birds....

.....thought I would play with paper today so I made my 8 postcards for a swap. We were to make 4x6 postcards with birds as the theme on the front. The flip side was to have the words "Postcard" along with some writing and my name. I debated for quite awhile where to start. I began looking through my newest paper stack and found these awesome birds in the DCWV Ciao Bella stack.

They were embellished with some clear flourish stamps, flowers, words and bird stamps. I must say I really like how they turned out. At first they seemed to stark for my tastes but I aged them with some Stazon Saddle Brown Ink and ta-da....they look much more vintage now. The 8 postcards I receive back will be bound into a mini ART book. Sounds divine to me!! :)

There are 2 of each front side

and 3 different back sides.
I used 3 bird quotes for the "text" and my name, group and date as the "address".

More new ART to share....

I have been having fun with a couple of past charms swaps, so I signed up for another one. This time I only had to make 8 charms. I have been wanting to play with Shrink Plastic again so that is what I chose as my medium.
I recently acquired some new, retired Stampin' Up sets. I thought this lovely lady would make a graceful charm and I believe she did. She is from the Days Gone By stamp set. I stamped her with Jet Black Stazon Ink on the front. On the back side I colored her in with my water color pencils. I used a corner rounder to soften the edges, punched a hole for the jump ring and let the shrinking process commence!! :::Smiles::: I'm still a kid at heart.....no matter how many times I use Shrink Plastic....it still amuses me greatly!! When the charms were cool I edged them with a black sharpie, added a jump ring, a beaded eye pin and another jump ring. I attached them to a Moo card made using DCWV Le Creme paper.

The other project I finished up today is for a mingle. We were given a stocking pattern and the challenge was to make it from a brown grocery bag. I actually chose brown mailing paper as I had several rolls in the studio. I cut out the brown stockings and used Spray Mount to attach them to the printed scrapbook papers. I cut them out again and used my Mat Pack from Stampin' Up and a needle tool to punch holes around the stockings. I stitched them up with embroidery floss, added some embellishments to the cuffs and added a little sparkle with my gel pens. The stockings are to be given empty for the recipients to use as gifties themselves.

That's what is new in my neck of the woods. Thanks for stopping by!!
Oh, I forgot....these guys were hanging out and posing while I was shooting my others pics today. I guess they wanted to be famous too!! LOL

Journals of Love....

....my good friend Shirley has embarked on a project that is expanding at the speed of light!! :::smiles::: Her family, like so many, has been touched by cancer. She was inspired to make a journal for her family member. From there, the idea to make more journals to share was born. If you are interested in participating, you make contact her at srcattle@aol.com.

I made my journals from composition notebooks. I thought I would share the 4 that I made today. I made them with my newest paper conquests from DCWV, Stack 6 and the Green Stack. Be sure to click the pics to see them better!!

First up is a very bright and upbeat red and blues journal. It is tied up with a big red satin bow and the embellishment says: "May you never lose your sense of wonder" and it is highlighted with my Sakura Stardust pen.

The second journal is a more masculine journal that is embellished with a metal plate "Believe," held in place with screw head brads. The closure is made from a flattened men's cuff link and black elastic cord and another screw head brad.

The 3rd journal is a pink and brown combo, also embellished with a big satin bow, a pink flower and a pink slide mount that reads "Believe."

The final journal is actually my fave, with a beaver, snail and a tiny bird. It is embellished with black rick rack and says, "life's simple pleasures."

I covered the fronts and backs, then lined the inside covers to avoid all the printing inside. Now is the perfect time to stock up on these composition books with all the Back-to-school sales. If you want to play too, contact Shirley or leave a comment here and I'll get the info to you!! :)

Some new ART....

I have some new ART to share that are for August swaps. :::smiles:::

First up is an ATC with the theme "lady". I used one of my fave images on vellum, backed with a vintage dictionary page.

Second swap item was a tag, themed "Anything goes." I used some paper from the new DCWV Paper stack, "The Green Stack" http://www.diecutswithaview.com/new.php?id=288 and a skeleton leaf and copper embellishments.

Finally, I was to make a row house. I cut the basic shapes with my Cricut using the Wild Card cartridge and embellished from there. I am happy with how it turned out. It is larger than it appears, coming in at around 5 x 10. Anywho....just sharing!! :)
